Safari holidays

Going on safari in Africa is an iconic experience. Don’t miss an early morning game drive to spot lions or leopard as they feast on a kill. Sunrise is the best time to witness this, as the big cats hunt at night, eat at dawn and leave the hyenas to finish off the leftovers. Mornings are great for spotting predators but the middle of the day is excellent for seeing classic safari wildlife. Watch zebras braying to each other, giraffes munching lazily on acacia trees and wildebeest grazing the grasses. Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa are the classic safari destinations but Botswana, Namibia, Malawi and Rwanda also have their fair share of epic landscapes and breath-taking wildlife experiences.

Self-drive Africa holidays

There's nothing more adventurous than a road trip through Africa. Namibia and South Africa are the best places to explore by car. Zoom along the Garden Route on the coast of South Africa, stopping in at the vineyards of Stellenbosch and the whale watching capital Hermanus. In Namibia, you can get really off the grid; sink your toes into the mighty red dunes of Sossusvlei, watch elephants traverse the wide salt pan in Etosha National Park and drive along almost empty roads. If you're looking for adventure, independence and exploration - then this is your type of Africa holiday.

Honeymoons in Africa

There's something wildly romantic about a holiday to Africa, which makes it perfect for a honeymoon. Search for wildlife in the early morning mist and tell stories around the campfire at night. Squeeze each other’s hands with silent excitement when you spot your first leopard cubs. In Kenya, you can explore untouched Laikipia and Meru National Park, while in Tanzania you can traverse the Serengeti before heading to Zanzibar to relax. Sip wine in Cape Town, feel the spray of Victoria Falls on your face and dive with whale sharks in Mozambique. An African safari is the ultimate romantic honeymoon.

Luxury Africa holidays

If you're looking for a wildlife experience in luxury, then Africa has plenty of options. Safari camps beyond your wildest dreams can be found in the grasslands of Kenya and Tanzania, while ocean-side hotels in South Africa and remote lodges in Namibia are so lovely it's hard to leave. Sleep under the stars in the wilderness of Laikipia, soar over the sand dunes in Namibia in a hot-air balloon and indulge in sundowners by the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater, toasting to this spectacular continent as the sun goes down.

Africa beach holidays

With some of the most spectacular white sands in the world, a beach holiday in Africa is a dreamy way to spend a couple of weeks. Whether you want to explore the unique islands of the Seychelles, eat fresh seafood on the spice island of Zanzibar, snorkel in the clear waters of Mauritius or get off grid in Mozambique or Reunion - Africa has a beach just waiting for you! It's also easy to combine a safari with a beach break, whether you want to see the vast wildebeest herds of the Serengeti or look for lions in Kruger National Park.

Gorilla safari holidays

Meeting the mountain gorillas of East Africa is one of the most magical experiences on the planet. You can visit these remarkable creatures in both Uganda and Rwanda, high in the Virunga Mountains that straddle the border between these countries, as well as in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. Combine this special experience with further time exploring both countries - looking for hippos and crocodiles in the rivers, tracking chimpanzees in the dense forests and meeting friendly locals in both beautiful countries.

Round the world holidays including Africa

Africa is a great stop on a round the world holiday, especially if you want to include some bucket list wildlife experiences. Look for lions in the Masai Mara, sip wine on the harbourside in Cape Town and hike through the jungle to spend an hour with the gorillas in Rwanda. South Africa is one of the easiest places to include on a round the world ticket, connecting easily over to Australia or back up to Asia.
